A Story of Friendship, Art, and Timeless Craftsmanship

bogu+ offers authentic Chinese craft pieces that embody the passion, creativity, and dedication of the artisans who make them, while also featuring original creations that reflect our own commitment to quality and innovation.

What is bogu?

The name bogu "博古" (Bó gǔ) finds its roots in classical Chinese literature, meaning "a broad knowledge or deep understanding of antiquities and ancient culture.” It reflects our appreciation for traditional culture. Erudites used expressions such as "博古通今" (Bó gǔ tōng jīn), to mean "knowledgeable about past and present." Our "+" suffix signifies our discipline in connecting timeless traditions with contemporary innovation, linking cultural heritage with modern living. bogu+ represents a bridge between the ancient and modern, East and West, and ultimately - artisans and your home.

Our team

bogu+ was founded in 2024 by two childhood friends from China, bonded by a deep love for traditional Chinese culture and a fascination with contemporary art.

Stella lives in New York and has worked in marketing for over a decade, collaborating with luxury brands and cultural institutions in both Shanghai and New York. Immersed in the pulse of pop culture, she finds balance by creating a tearoom in every home she inhabits. Adorned with Chinese tea ware and traditional decor, this sanctuary keeps her rooted to her heritage, no matter how far she is from home.

Fiona lives in Shanghai, growing up surrounded by antiques through her father’s 30 years in the Chinese antique trade. After university, she joined him in the business, where she continues to encounter exquisite treasures that never fail to inspire her. She realized that for these timeless artifacts to endure, they must be reimagined to suit modern life—making them accessible, practical, and innovative for a contemporary audience.

Two lifelong friends, living in two of the world’s busiest cities, separated by a 12-hour time difference, yet bound by a shared passion for Chinese art and craftsmanship. Through their differences and shared experiences, this love has always connected them—and from that connection, bogu+ was born.
